Is anyone else overly-attatched to one piece of kit?

So I've just got back from having my playing pants repaired for the second time and got me wondering if anyone else has a bit of kit they just refuse to let go of no matter how beaten up it gets.

Like I said for me it's my pants. A pair of Red & Black Angel Air Time's that I picked up a couple of years ago when I was just getting back into the game. There were only two reasons I brought them, 1. they were on sale and subsequently a good £60 cheaper than anything else at the time, and 2. they were Red & Black which I had decided was the colour scheme I wanted to have.

First thing to go on them was one of the pockets. Managed to somehow tear a hole in one after only two or three uses. Then the Zip went a few weeks after that which warrented the first trip to the tailors (who did an even better job than the original I'd say). The second mishap was a biggie though, one of the velcro/elastic belt-type-things snapped off completely during a game. Good old Duct Tape kept them from around my ankles for the rest of the day but I really thought that was the end of them and I resigned myself to the fact that it was probably time to replace them. So I got a pair of GI Sportz pants but they just wern't the same. They were heavier and hotter and the fabric wasn't as soft and just generally didn't fit as well.

Thought I'd get used to them after a bit of breaking-in but I just couldn't. And then I realised I could probably just get some loops attatched and use a regular belt. So I (well the tailor) did. And now I have my favorite light, comfy, breathable but seen better days pants back :)

So anyone else quested to keep something going for as long as they possibly can? Or am I just being stubborn haha?

A pod..... Yes a pod..... I have a purple dye lock lid, ( I hate dye lock lids, pain in the a** to open when in a rush and have a habit of opening when you need paint most however...) back to the story I acquired this pod in a bundle of pods when I started playing and it was the only purple one.
Now I'm a pain for not picking up my pods and am forever losing them, and breaking them. But this one purple pod seems to have stayed with me from the start. So I just don't want to get rid of it haha. ( or it might be because everything I do try no one wants it as they have realised they are also a useless pod design..... Hmmm)

Not as good as yours but still a lucky pod ?

Tinkering ain’t easy
For me it was my pink headband. I had it from day 1 of playing and always wore it. It never got washed and smelled like a wet otter but I loved it. Unfortunately I lent my kit to a mate and he lost it. I've never quite recovered. So if anyone has a pink bunkering headband let me know...

Not overly, but it got me to thinking... when I started playing, everything had to be current, like I had to have this season's gloves, pants, everything. if a new style came out, I bought it. But as time went on and I got more sponsored I gave less of a sh*t. Like, I could've walked over to our trade stand, said "I need a new pack" and just walked off with one, but I just didn't care. I played an entire season with two left gloves, I just turned one inside out to make it a right. The only time I took anything new was when I lost something, which wasn't often.

I know exactly what you mean.

One time, I walked up to a trade stand and they gave me a sticker, completely free, as long as I never went back.

Amazing, eh?

Sadly, the days of sponsorship like that are long gone.

a few things for me. I'm so skint that i should really sell my pump gun thats not seen the woods in about a year, but can't bring myself to do it and keep telling myself i'll use it eventually.
my camo headband/sandana combo. I actually lost the headband counterpart a few years back and immediately went out and bought a very simillar one to replace it i was that upset.
laysick trousers that are destroyed. hanging on to them even though i've not repaired them!

Mine has got to be my viewloader revvy, ive had her over 12+ years now. She has never let me down, my halo shells got smashed when I dove into a bunker out she came and worked fine, my old prophecy broke the feedneck off of itself out she came and saved another day, a mate forgot his hopper out she came saved his day, these are just some of the times she has come out the depths of my kit bag over the years. The only other bit of kit I will never be able to play with out is my ac threaded pmi pefect bore, it may be old but I just like it there as a good omen.

Headband that Eve (Eden Designs) made in 2008, the year I started playing. Had it since maybe my 3rd tournament, and it's been to everyone since. I think I'd quit if I lost that headband.

Earliest photo I could find of it - 2009
