Afternoon all,

My name is Adam. Me and a few friends have decided that we would like to start playing paintball.

We are looking at woodsball and scenario playing. We already have a load of gear given too us which includes the following:

  • Empire G36 Elite Marker
  • Empire 4500psi 68c air system with remote line
  • Empire E-Vent masks
  • BT Battle vests
  • Empire Sniper gloves
I know this may not be the best kit/marker but it was seriously cheap and we all have the same gear that I am looking after so if anything isn't working we have a spare marker or two as well.

Further to this I have 2 x 15ltr 232 Bar dive tanks and 1 x 12ltr 300 Bar dive tank to refill our tanks being provided to me by a work colleague.

We are based around Oxfordshire and really what we are looking for is somewhere we can all go to play with our own gear/paintballs. Anyone know if this is possible or will we be looking to find our own land.

An old friend has 14 acres of woodland I may be able to use but this is around 3 hours drive and wondering if anything is closer.

Can you higher somewhere for the day or does anyone else do this just for the odd weekends?

Kind Regards,

Adam

Hey adam welcome to the sport! If you've already got the kit you need then definitely get out and start enjoying yourselves! All I'll say is that the setup you've went for is more for the cosmetic, military like, appearance. There are guns out there which are more lightweight and generally shoot better, as well being easier to mount the bottle directly on the gun (remote lines will limit your ability to switch hands). However if the bad ass look is what you were going for then that's what its all about ;)

If you have your own land to use then by all means it will make it incredibly cheap to go have some fun. You just need to make sure that there is NO WAY of any innocent bystanders wandering on to the land, and also that there is NO WAY that any stray paintballs are going to find a way of hitting someone outside of your playing area. So if the area you are planning on using backs on to any sort of nature walks or roads, you would probably need to look in to netting off the area, and unfortunately netting is a relatively larger cost.

The easiest way of doing things is probably visiting some local sites! So i suggest letting people know where you're from and I'm sure people local to you will point you in the direction of the best sites. yes you may spend a bit more money per day playing but you will be on a purpose built site so probably more fun to play, you should have unlimited airfills and also there will be more people to play with! You will probably want to attend events known as 'walk ons' which is specifically for regular players with their own equipment. since you don't need the same supervision by staff or the equipment, the cost of playing (or the cost of paint specifically) will be much lower than attending a normal day out. I don't generally advise booking in for a regular day because A. you'll spend way more money and B. The people you are playing are going to be at a disadvantage with both equipment and experience, and honestly its not fun to play these events when its so easy.

Of course if your closest site happens to be 50 miles way and you have land on your back door then by all means get playing but just keep in mind what i've mentioned above.

Hi and welcome!

Finmere is close to you, although I have no clue whatsoever if it still exists. Not sure if they ran walk on days, but if you find them Im sure a chat will get you answers. Thats all I know of, but Im sure its not all there is.

I would suggest getting along to a Diamond Wars event run monthly at NPF.

Not only does it combine woodsball / scenario. There is a good group of guys attendin, you use your own kit and just a short drive for you!

Do that for a few months and other players can potentially introduce you to other locations or events.

I know it is nothing more than cosmetic but it really but there is a mixed bunch of us who all want to feel like weekend warriors I think more than anything and just have a blast. The gear all in was only a few hundred quid for 5 of us. I know the weight might be a little much but from what I have seen they can be stripped down to the basics if needs be. I was thinking I could always machine some nice lightweight parts in the long term as well.

If you have your own land to use then by all means it will make it incredibly cheap to go have some fun. The land that is available although a distance would not be accessible by anyone other than the land owners from any direction as the woods sit central to a cluster of fields with one dirt track leading too them all of which is private.

Will have a look around at the places recommended by all of you as well then to see what sort of Walk-On days are about.

Kind Regards,

Adam
