A handy little item.

Back in the day some markers came without ASAs which meant we all had to choose our own rail and ASA setup to suit our arm length. Eventually the rail and ASA became a standard item on markers and with the ever increasing demand for the tightest and lightest setups known to man, this became an integrated rail to mount the ASA. Combining this with low rise feed-necks meant manufacturers were able to decrease the overall height by considerable percentages year on year.

There was a problem though. Integrated rails offered less adjustment for different arm lengths. Sure, you could slide your ASA back to the end of the integrated rail to lengthen your setup but with a much smaller area being supported this weakened the strength of the arrangement particularly to torsion/twisting/falling/dives gone wrong. Expensive to repair as you had to basically source and purchase a new frame, some people even went as far as paying for a colour match anodising job. A few people offered up alternatives in the form of bottle extenders and so on however they were never widely available particularly in the UK.

Planet have come up with a fairly elegant little solution. Firstly, they’re making it so it’s going to be good quality. Secondly, they’re putting their distribution behind it so it’ll be available pretty much worldwide.

The part itself consists of 4 components.

1 x standard bottle sized o-ring.

1 x machined shaft

1 x circlip

1 x machined alumimium body.

You simply screw it on to your bottle and then screw it into your marker. It’s machined nicely to accommodate a wrench or spanner of the appropriate size should you find yourself struggling to remove it by hand for any reason. It’s designed to give all you lovely blokes an extra 1 inch in length. We’ll let that statement hang there while you ponder all possible meanings of it…………

Super news for those of you with arms like orangutans or those who prefer the stability of a longer setup.

Obviously ;)
