Air Tank Question?

I have played paintball a number of times, as a rental customer, and this year have decided after many years of "thinking about it". I have decided to buy my own Paintball kit, and marker.

As part of buying a marker you need an air system, and I have been looking at purchasing a 4500 psi HPA tank, but I have noticed that many paintball sites only fill tanks up to 3000 psi. My question is very simple, as long as my 4500 psi tanks air pressure is below 3000 psi, will I be able to fill up at the sites air station up to the 3000 psi limit?

I cannot see any reason as to why not, as long as the tank is below 3000 psi when you try to fill the tank. Sorry for the newb question, but I would rather look silly on here, than on the paintball field.

Yes - fill stations open the valve in your fill nipple due to higher pressure in the system then the cylinder
So if you have say 4500psi in the cylinder and connect to the 3000psi fill station then nothing happens, it can't open the valve

Have say 2000psi and you will get a fill up to 3000psi

if you use a 4500psi cylinder at a 3000psi site then for your money (about £150 for a fibre 4500 cylinder, about £30 for a 3000 aluminum) you are getting the ergonomics of choice from the range aviakabe
If you sometimes play at a site with 4500 fills then you get the capacity benefit
