How do you make your avatar a small square mine is always huge??? Any help would be greatly appreciated???

Resize it.
Right click on your avatar and bring up its properties it should tell you its size then use a paint application and resize it down to 75 by 75 pixels and save it. If you have no applications like paintshop use windows paint and pull up the stretch/skew menu under 'image' and do a quick bit of calculating to work out the % you need to make it smaller
