I decided to make a new thread as THIS was getting a bit O/T...

I've just checked out prices on the Freak Junior kit (Tippmann threaded) and it's £71+vat at Smart Parts.

If I'm don't find that my shots are THAT innaccurate/inconsistent at the moment with a standard barrel, why should I pay more than double for a Freak kit compared to say, a £20-odd Infinity?

Remember I won't be keeping the Tippy for ever, it's just my starter marker, so I'd rather not be left with £40 of Freak back to shift.

Joff - come & see me at the next academy & I'll give you a demo on the Freak inserts & different batches of the same paint, including over the chrono to show the difference a good or bad bore/ball match can make.

Cool, cheers Liz - actually, not that's not cool - looks like I'll be spending even MORE!!
    :D

Paul, I'm sure I can live with "some" innacuracies, but I'll reserve any more judgement until after the Academy.

So as a starter, would you recommend getting, say, the smallest, largest, and middle sizes first? And are the inserts for the Freak Junior kit the same as the Freak Deluxe?

In fact, what ARE the differences between the Junior and Deluxe kits? :D

nope not the smallest, its very rare you find a paint that small.
Depends if you play rec or tourny ball.
    I'd say rec,
    .693
    .691
    .689

    And tourney,

    .691
    .689
    .684

Or summit like, let a few people answer and see what range you get.

    Paul.

Junior you get the junior front, aluminium back and 1 insert a .693 with the deluxe you get either the AA or Freak style front, aluminium or stainless back and all 8 inserts.

Oh I see... so I got the concept of Junior and Deluxe completely wrong then... I thought they were different parts! :D

So, how come use larger inserts for rec-ball? Do they generally have bigger paint?

So how does the paint know if you're playing Tourney or Rec?

Which category do walk-on/Academy days fit into?
