I must be the unluckiest paintball player ever - my team are beginning to think that. I bought a new 3000psi 0.8L Air system about a month ago from Just paintball and on my drive to unique paintball today my air cannister randomly expelled the 2000psi that was in it gushing madly as I was driving. I panicked thinking I had a flat tire and pulled over before I realised it was the air canister gushing out all the air. 2 minutes later and with the air all out finally (and a new pair of underpants for me too) I realised something had gone wrong with the HPA system. I had someone at the paintball site take a look and they tried fill it but it wouldnt fill anything; the air just kept expelling out. They said the 1.8k burst disc had blown. Im wondering how I go about fixing this? is it just a case of unscrewing the 1.8k bolt disc and replacing it? Or is the cannister faulty? Its only ever been used once to fire about a 100 paintballs. This was going to be my second ever use of it. Would this be covered under the warranty for the air system? Any help on the matter - from anyone really would be appreciated as I dont seem to be having much luck with this new hobby of mine O_O
It can just happen sometimes! I don't know how to replace though, but if bought new I'm sure they would send you a new burst disk, and to install it there should be videos on YouTube. All I know
Hey fella, when you bought the bottle did it come with a cap to cover the fill nipple ( not the top ) as if you haven`t got one on there ( as you should at all times ) you could have a bit of dirt down there from when you last played, this could cause both the problems that you speak of, allowing the air to go in but not allowing the pin to retract therefore letting the air back out, and also if you did get any dirt in there, that could also be the cause of a burst disc. there for your safety... anyway they can go at any time so don`t feel too bad and an easy fix , they just unscrew then just screw another in it`s place, usually around £4 from any supplier, make sure it`s the same as you`ve got 1.8k if that is the one, as there are different ones out there
I think this is a common proble with them as plenty of people I have seen buy bottles from just have had there burst disks just blow randomly. 1 person had it blow 3-4 times in one day, because as soon as he filled it, it blew then did the same 3 more times until he gave up. just return it.
Burst discs can just "go", if you're certain it's that and not the fill nipple you can go about replacing it. I'd be obliged to recommend you get your local site to do it if you are unsure, that said I've replaced dozens myself and never had an issue as long as they're done up as tight as I can get them.
I'm the guy that checked the bottle for you mephestic, It's defo the burst disc thats gone as I said they are a simple job to replace but if your not sure yourself get someone in the know to do it for you
ahh phil! thanks for checking it for me mate, really appreciative of it! Im new to all this so a bit of a n00b with such things. il get a replacement so hopefully that will fix it
Hey Mephestic yes it sounds exactly like replacing that disc will solve your problems. On a side note I do hate the word n00b, and the mockery associated with it. We all started somewhere right? If you dont ask the questions you will never know the answers!
I got one of those 3k tanks from just paintball recently too, and my 1.8K burst disc went on sunday- where's the best place to get them fixed? Thanks
" burst disc " first make sure there`s No air left in the bottle, then get a spanner that fits properly and unscrew the Nut where it`s leaking, then replace with a New one making sure it`s tight but not so you over tighten, check by putting a LITTLE TINY drop of air so to make sure it`s not leaking and if it is , just tighten it up a little bit more until the air stops leaking, if there`s No leak just fill it up. . . Simple !!! if it`s a 5k replace with a 5k. if it`s a 1.8k replace with a 1.8k ect.. ect.... NEVER PUT ANY OIL ON ANY PART ... EVER !!! unless you want to go BOOM !!!! Henry b .... phone Just Paintball to send in the post to yourself
hey phil, sorry for late reply! Not yet; I have ordered a new burst disc that should hopefully be coming this week as im playing on the 2nd at a walkon so hopefully it gets sorted before that. I did unscrew the old 1.8k burst disc and sure enough the copper bit behind it was blown. im hoping the 5k one is fine as I didnt order a replacement of that one and some people have commented on replacing both... :S
lol no worries! the 1.8k disc just arrived and I have screwed it on - im assuming its literally that simple? I will take my spanner with me when I go play next weekend just incase it needs tightening - i dont want to over-do it and break the copper seal just in case Any recommendations on where I can get cheap spares for the future? just in case? I got mine for £3 from justpaintball?
I would personally send the bottle back, I think bottles are one of the things we should look after most in paintball, after-all we are talking about a high compression and considering we play with it either on our back or next to our face it is quite a scary thing if you think about it. On the plus side at least you didn't have your face laid against it when it went off like I did a few months back...One of the most frightening experiences of my life! (That along with my Nan chasing me around the garden with a slipper when I was younger). But on a serious note personally I wouldn't take any chances and send the bottle back, I'm sure they won't mind replacing it if you explain what happened.
