Great video for the old skool Autococker vs Automag fans out there
Cool vid. It's always interesting to see how a sport evolves and continues too.
Was it still a max 300fps back then? Whatever happened to the playing area?
think i seen this a while ago, the escaped convict refs pretending to be batman still make me laugh
Amazing to see how the game was before I was even born! Even greater to see how the game has evolved!
Yes 300fps and last i heard the field is the one currently at Skirmish Nottingham.
The good old days of single trigger 8bps before ramping stagnated gameplay.
Back in the early/mid 90's you only had two real choices you either shot a Mag or Autococker
Thanks for the information, some of that head protection looked very small compared to what pwople wear today.
I remember players wearing just the goggle part of a mask, and attaching a snood type affair to the underside of it, and you pull it down to shout, and pop it back up again for "protection"
Were there many facial injuries back in those days? I had a couple of mates who played during that era, but not sure at what level or with what type of marker.
Not sure, but I doubt anything really bad happened. Ive been shot on the neck hundreds of times, which I think is going to be similar to getting shot on the chin, cheek, whatever. Probably at worst, a bloody lip. But saying that, I used to cut my lip if my JTs took a hit square on that part of the mask.
Anyone remember those cataloges planet used to send out to us in the post
Here's what Planet were knocking out in 1998 well before the Eblade took us by storm
Wow, Just WOW !!!!
Watching this and definitely a blast from the past;
Robbo - With Hair
Ledz - Slightly Slimmer (Just)
Automags.................... Hhmmmm AutoMags
Revies with the extra Shredder pack
Small or no faceplates
This was a big blast from the past, cant believe all the old kit that I had.
Would love to see any old footage from Arenaball.
I was told that Hyperball was developed by WDP and inspired by Stonehenge!
As for the lack of face cover bac then, I've heard stories of players loosing teeth!!
And i thought it was hard enough getting punters to keep masks on while playing let alone the whole damn crowd!
Wow..memories..splashed Automags and Angels...those were the days..Hyperball was great and running into the tunnel cool unless it had been raining..the stink could be frickin awful
That'll be me giving a thumbs up at approx 7:01 with my brother walking in front of me.
Cannont beleive how skinny I am...!!!!!!!!
