Dunno, but I can tell you one thing - people don't need ears, because they never listen when you tell them they're out.

I agree, I haven't chopped a paintball in a very long time. Barrel bursts, now that's a different story.
Well alot can happen to a loader that may cause an interuption in the loader, low battery, dirt, jams and so on. Although i have played a lot of older markers without eyes and mechanical markers and havent had much problem at all. Id say that no, we dont need eye:s but at a competitive level, why not? They are there, they are fairly cheap, dont weigh much and could in rare cases save your day.
