You can't make a wanted thread because you are a new member and have a low post count.

Look around the forum some more, contribute to some threads, give us an introduction about yourself etc and you will get access fairly quickly

By the time you saved some more you'll be able to get in. However the odds of getting one on a wanted thread out of the very few bow players is highly slim

Iv been searching around again, and thought that buying the gun separately might save me quite a bit of money. Importing the bow attachment itself will cost around £120-£130 from the us. [as opposed to the £230 to buy it in england] so if customs do open, which is probably less likely since its basically just a barrel thing, it would still come to around £160-£180 i guess with tax. [I havent added in postage, but i cant see it being too insane since the attachment isnt that big or heavy]

Im gonna hunt out a bow specialist in the uk and try and get a bow there, because im not that fond of the bow that comes in the combo deal anyway.

Gonna make the first step going and talking to a bow specialist though. To an archery forum I go!

The import charges are not based on whether the package is opened... you will get charged no matter what. The person sending will have to declare the price of the item inside and you will be taxed accordingly plus £8 minimum handling fee. The price will be on the front of the package, chances of skipping the charges is almost non-existent.

Take it as a given that you will definitely be paying tax and budget accordingly. If you are one of the few lucky ones that get away with it then spare dough for paint.

Another update, it seems the bow it comes with isnt quite up to spec to reach the optimal fps...

Well i got there! I brought the airowgun itself from rap4s uk site, and then took it down to an archery shop and they suggested the Diamond rock 2.0, which is really similar to the bow the airow comes with. spent just under £500, so didnt really save any money. They did however put it together for me which took them over 3 hours with 4 guys all pitching in. Took them a while to tune the bow and line everything up, so if i tried to do it myself it would have definatly been a disaster!

Its pretty accurate, Im just coming down to two real issues, the fact you cant aim down the barrel because your head is to the left of the barel so you shoot to the right, and im not used to holding up something of that size and weight steadily with my left had, but time and practise will resolve that. Its also really quiet, i normally have to wait for midday to test any guns in the garden because of the noise. but iv been using it as late as 8pm in the garden and no complaints because its so quiet.

Just waiting till the weekend to take it somewhere i can shoot it some distance and give it a real try. I plan to play a game with it in just over a week.

Overall im really impressed with it and very happy! my bank balance is feeling the sting, but im still smiling!

[Only one real issue is how sensitive it is to bad paint, the stuff i have in my shed has been there for a while and it really isnt appreicating it! though now ill be using less paint i dont mind buying the higher quality stuff]

The biggest potential issue can see with these is can they be effectively chronographed, How can you chronograph something for field use where the fps relies on the draw of the bow and not the preset action of a bolt?

With the AirRow that's covered by the maximum pull.
But the Marshall running the chrono check needs to know to ensure the person being checked is not 'under drawing', as the Marshall also needs to ensure if checking bps that the player isn't under triggering and failing to engage modes, or pulling co2 tricks, or using a bad bore match then a good bore match, or using paintballs and first strikes, or adjusting afterwards etc

The morning or entry chrono check is only one step, Marshall observation and random or targeted checks are required.

At least with the AirRow it's designed for paintball, you also occasionally get people suggesting catapults etc. there is a similar theory there, but they are an unknown entity

Plus most places require 280-300 were I'm from which the bow would really struggle to hit. Most of the time it goes 240-250. And in perfect weather (not cold) I can get to 250-260. Never had it hit over 270.

So chrono is more of a technicality. I also play with duel pistols for when my arm starts to ache and they have the same issue of never really being able to reach the fps limit.

I play at a massive disadvantage with the bow, but its so fun to use that it doesnt matter. Cause at the end of the day I play for fun.

All the attention it gets is also fun! But never call it a crossbow. Make my blood boil!

Anyway, if you have the money and a backup gun. Then I highly recommend it! Can't wait to tale her to her first festival at NvS this week!
