Round 2 thanks and review thread

Tinkering ain’t easy
Well guys round 2 is done and what a great day of paintball. The weather held out (well done Rich :)) and the site was superb yet again.

Big thanks from The Mad Monks to all of the guys we played in M7, fantastic games against fantastic guys (we got lots of love from some old friends and some new ones alike)

Thanks to BZ for the best paint and support you can get (especially the last game of coaching :D)

Rich this truely is a fantastic event, keep it up. My one point is can we make timings/ turnarounds quicker we were 2 hours behind in M7 which meant it was very late after the 4 hours back for our guys.

Cheers

Sid (Mad Monks fat backman )

EDIT-needed to add bar the disorganisation at times I think the Marshalls on the Eclipse field were fantastic, made some excellent calls and worked their socks off, hats off to you.

Awell where do i start...

After leaving from Aberdeen, Scotland @ around 1:30pm through torrential rain storms and thunder and lightening, stopping at services and getting our "Rental" car Keyed and 1 of our tires slashed, having to replace it in the rain, getting to the site at around 10pm, having to set up the tents, in the pouring rain with only the lights from the headlamps of the car, and then strolling over to the tent, and rich saying.... Hey, nice of you to be here :) and handing me a can of carling... just made my day.

The morning after.. Just a massive thanks to all the teams that we played, and a Huge thanks to Wayne for playing for us & the temper boys for accommodating us in the afternoon :) and most of all a HUGE, HUGE, thanks to the refs on the M5 championship fields in the morning... spot on... even when our very own frenchy started his own revolution (Sorry Team Rampage :S)

Cya all at round 3 !!!!

We had a good time, and I like what you guys have done with the place since my last visit!

We got to the site early enough, but found the staging area free-for-all a pain in the @rse and so had to enlist the help of the refs to step in and get some teams to stop hogging the space so we could get a table. Maybe this could become more organised?

The food was great value for money, and decent quality so well done here guys!

Reffing was good on the whole, but we felt there were some terrible calls for players pulled without at hit on them, one player, not ours shot the bunker and the smear of paint on his barrel had him removed from the game... and I am probably not alone when I say that field 4 was a little 1-4-1 happy.

+1 from Newcastle Lockdown on the delays Sid, the gap between the M5 Championship games, the re-seed time then the overall slow turnaround of the re-seeded sessions was a real problem for us.

Overall though, a good value for money day out. Weather was nice too :)

I have to agree, 2nd event and the and 2nd time running 2-3 hours behind making it a very long day with a very long drive home after.

Would it be possible to do alternate monthly start times with the m5? morning/afternoon.

Once again another great event ! Big thanx to Rich and the guys !!

With regards to the schedule running behind I would like to suggest a possible ‘quick fix’ specifically on the race to 2.

As far as I could tell – a large part of the delay was down to one field running faster than the other – this initial delay could be down to inflating bunkers, technical time outs etc .... but once one field was significantly out of sync with the other – it seemed to be impacted with teams being required on both fields at the same time !! – this happened to a number of teams several times ... so once again 5+ minutes were lost due to searching for teams who were not available, their opposition arriving on the field only to be sent off and the next 2 teams then being allowed on.

In my ignorance – would it be possible for group A & B to play one field and group C & D to play the other ? And then the same for the ‘seeded’ rounds? I know this would lead to only 50% of teams in the 2nd round previously playing on their ‘seeded’ field .... but hey ... the fields aren’t that different so suck it up and learn quickly.

Rich please do not take this as an insult – it certainly isn’t intended that way – you have proved that you offer one of the best events in the UK and long may it continue

Lee - V-Unit

PS – Thanx for washing my jersey .... but Im sorry I forgot to collect it ... AGAIN!!

yeah it was a great event, food was cheap, reffing on the whole was great,
i think the refs on field 1/2 did a good job but there were a few questionable calls, however whos perfect? they got screwed at a lot for nothing in particular, which i can imagine is very demotivating. for me every call yesterday was spot on except for one so a big thanks to the refs on field 1/2.
and thanks to rich for this event

a good day despite our terrible form, only real gripe is the reffing on the elite field was appauling at times, we had players getting 1 for 1s whilst calling for paint checks on more than one occassion and had players being pulled out without hits on them on several occasions too. We were playing rubbish so we would most likely have lost anyway but it really put a downer on things when we did make the moves and then got ripped apart by 1 for 1 happy refs. Apart from that the way the event is set up and run is excellent, cheers to rich and all the team

Some great games played on the Elite field yesterday.

Sorry that we were gash, we're working on it!

I'll echo what a few have said regarding the reffing. On the elite field there were a few too many unneccesarry 1-4-1 occurrences. I witnessed 1-4-1s on both ourselves and other teams for players sat asking for paintchecks. Many teams felt that the refs were too keen to be ripping players off the field. Generally the refs do a great job but a little more leniency at times would be great.

CPPS still looking strong.
