I'm sure you have all seen one of these types of films or tv progs.

E.G. Jean Claude Van Damme's timecop

The "baddies" go back in time to do horrible things and change history. The "good guys" send the hero back to stop them.

My problem with all this, is why dont they just send JCVD to 10 mins before the naughty ones sent them self back, and arrest/kill them then???

But then they would not of went back in time to do there dasterdly things will not count as an answer. This paradox does not outweigh the, once they went back in time and did whatever it was they did, how the hell would we know history had changed one.

Lets leave the grandfather paradox out of this one.

And yes I do realise it is just hollywood making movies, and I have proberly had too much coffee.........

Don't the bad guys always destroy the time machine and its settings so when the hero goes back they have to use some dangerous prototype and can only guess the approximate time and date?

Terminator was another good one for this. However bad the third film was it did clear up some of the paradox issues.

I wish I could go back to Seatle in the 1970's and give some start up capital to an entepreneur named bill gates. (I guess while you are there you may as well offer some cash to a coffe shop named starbucks too)

I hope you guys have computers and coffee over there or those referances will not make any sense.

The first person to invent time travel if it ever can be done is going to be very rich indeed. Like biff in back to the future part two. I know he didn't invent the delorian but he exploited the sports almanac. And whammo whole new future.
