Mask vs. mask

Hello all :p

What would we regard as the better/ most comfortable/hard wearing mask? A pair of events, or a pair of Dye i3s, both fairly new? I won't really be able to try them on unfortunately.

Also, what function does a mirrored mask lens serve apart from looking snazzy?

Thanks :)

Either are great masks (although I don't wear either) I think the I4s are slightly smaller around the jaw and don't have a peak.

The mirrored lens is like the lens in your sunglasses, great for bright days on open fields, crap for woodland poor weather play.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it would reduce visibility, I'll probably try and get a normal lens too for indoor use :p

Events are a nice mask - I'd say a lot more comforable than the i4's (not tried a set of i3's). It serves as my back-up (for when I get shot too much) or as a loaner mask. One thing with the Events - there's a little lock tab for the ear pieces. Unless you don't mind your ears flapping around, they are small but vital for comfort.

what is good for one person fells like crap on others

owned 09 events/i3/invisions/grillz and some jt's tried on the earlyer events and profilers

and for me the grillz win hands down for pure comfort and ease off cleaning

the only function i have found for a mirror lens is to totaly ruin my vision allways stick to yellow lens for supair and clear for woods

ive two pairs of e-vents (old and new style) anlong with a pair of invert avatsr's (see my display pic) there all basically the same mask except the avatars dont haave detachable ears and thus dont need a little tab to stop the ear rattling

as for lenses ive clear, smoked and mirror'd blue, clear ones are good all round except when its silly bright, outwith a low sun but ive the smoked for those days, more down to personnel preference

most half decent masks upwards near enough always come with a dual layer thermal lens, trickyest bit id say is finding an anti fog method that works for you
i use sprayable anti fog solution, some use anti fog gel even heard of some using rainex, motorbike lens spray or even johnsons no more tears shampoo, just a case of finding what works for you.

hope that helps

This will be the most important piece of kit you will buy for paintball, so do not go cheap.
Everyone's head is shaped differently. I advise you try some on before buying. Comfort is the key, unless you like to go jogging wearing a pair of clogso_O
Some masks will restrict your hearing, some will restrict and muffle the calls you make.
Thermal lens is a must.
Also note, some masks can be a pain and time consuming when changing out the lens or even if you ever want to take the lens out for cleaning. Others will literally take seconds.
Chrome/mirrored len's are easily scratched, clear/smoke/yellow not so much.

My local site is near Congleton, and I've tried a few on elsewhere. I've decided to go for some newish second hand i3s off the forum, and then get a clear lens for woodsball (they'll come mirrored).

Anti-fog wise I've had to rely on just using washing up liquid between games with the site masks, its a bit of a pain but works :D

Thanks for the tips guys (y)
