I know his not, trying to scam me! What it seems to turned into is a debate about rights for buyers when things get lost in the post. But I buying online does not revolve around PayPal , people brought and sold items long distance before PayPal was even started.

As I think most people agree, your attitude is half the problem.

Royal Mail lost the item, you're trying to hold the seller to ransom for it.

And as far as I'm concerned as mentioned previously we have agreed a refund date, which I and the seller are both happy with. Always remember if you sell something don't spunk the cash till you know the item has been received and they are happy with item.

I have not got an attitude try going days without a response from someone who had 450 of your cash. Bet you would be getting ready to stick a car bomb under there car. It got frustrating so that's why I was ready to start making a claim from the courts.

Also Royal Mail don't have no responsibilities to me, only the sender. That's why I could not claim for the lost package. Call them yourself if you wanna know more, been through it all with them

No body seems to have raised this point so far, but if the seller was to issue a refund of the £450 without being reimbursed by Royal Mail and then the package was to be found and delivered to Danny, the seller would then be out of pocket for the £450 and the marker. That's clearly a big risk for the seller so I can sympathise with him wanting a refund from Royal Mail first.
The seller is clearly doing what is necessary to get this issue resolved and I don't doubt that the buyer won't get the money/marker back, some space and trust just needs to be allowed for the issue to get sorted.
That's my 2cents worth anyway.
Cheers
Elliot

The tone of this thread gives the impression that you are seriously not a happy chappy

If you have an agreed timeframe between yourselves then that's the matter resolved, pending the actual refund

With reference to the delivery contract being between him & RM and not you, I partly referenced this with my post about the level of compensation.
This is not in reference to the specifics of this case, but in general towards private sales on the forums - sometimes buyer & seller will negotiate specific postage options, perhaps because the buyer does not want one carrier or prefers another, but often due to cost

Sometimes you can send a parcel of x size/weight for less, or standard post has a compensation limit
In such a situation if it goes missing or gets damaged then compensation becomes a problem - not enough insurance means someone loses out. By default it should be the seller, but if the buyer wanted to cut the cost to a cheaper service then they have contributed to the loss in compensation

For PayPal as a payment method, it's again not compulsory, however for the payment of £450 this would have cost £16.05 in fees
Rather not spend an extra £16 on fees, however to lose £450 is a different matter

It is going to end up ok, but you may feel better at the moment if you had that protection to reassure you that it will come back to you

People have bought without PayPal for a long time, but in addition to bank transfer & wire transfer which can leave you easily subject to scam there have long been escrow services. That's the service PayPal provides

Evidently no attitude there at all, car bombs are my go to solution every time.......

It was insured for upto £500. The parcel was sent for inspection as they tried to put it on a flight, flights and compressed air systems are a funny mix. since customs tried to inspect it that's where it went AWOL. And dusty would love you to stick a package under royal mails head honchos car.
