Recommended reads

There are far too many books and not enough time. Depending on your tastes, here's a few of my favourites

Chickenhawk - Robert Mason - Autobiography
Incarnations of Immortality Series - Piers Antony - A modern day/ fantasy look at death, time, fate, God and the devil.
Brave New World - Aldous Huxley - Cracking classic about a non-utopian future society...weird!
Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy - Douglas Adams - Do I need to say anything...
Pegasus Bridge - Stephen E Ambrose - Ox and Bucks attack on June 6th of the bridges at the Caen canal and river Orne

I try not to get too cerebral, as the idea of the book is to entertain me in some way, but if you want to, try Homer's The Iliad and The odyssey. A little tough going but both very good (Cheap as well!)

Europe: A History by Norman Davis

A great book of the consise history of Europe in one volume, something you can pick up, whenever, or read in one go, thouroughly recommended if you enjoy history and want an overview in one go !

If you're up for some fairly adult fantasyish stuff, then the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks (Assassins and magic). I chomped through the whole series within a few days, couldn't put it down. The books show a very harsh environment, couldn't pin point why I like it beyond the fact it's AWESOME.

I LOVE fantasy...

If you like it try and read Trudi Canavans - Age of the Five series and her Black magician Trilogy. There BOTH awesome!

Oh Oh my turn!

Were were soldiers Once, and young, by General Hal Moore. film based on the book from 2002 doesn't tell you half of what happened (and it didn't end as well as holywood wants you to think). Buy it, read it. I have 5 times now. In fact I'm now gonna read it again.

If you want Historical fiction I can recommend Winstons War by Michael Dobbs, again brilliant characterisation of the gratest Englishman to have ever lived.

If your talking about Tom Clancy then only 2 really count: Red Storm rising and Clear and Present Danger... both showcase clancy at his best. Bugger forgot Without Remorse, OK 3 at his best... and Hunt for Red October, ok bollox, just read all his books...

If you want some culture then the White company by Arthur Conan Doyle is fantastic. Piss on Sherlock holmes.

Lastly, as Pratchet is the last word, then so is Nigh****ch. compulsive.

If you are into sci-fi at all, some of Iain M Banks' novels are good....mind you some are also bollocks!

Good ones are

Excession
Look to Winward
The Algebraist

They can be a little strange at first, but its just his style of writing

I know its ment to just be non-fiction but if you like fiction try reading books by David Gemmell.

iv read about 13 of his books now and some are fantastic.
