I’d be wary of where you’re going to do that. Unless you have access to land with control on anyone else’s access it starts him off with a point of view on safety, and encourages ‘off world’ play
There can be a legal status on distance from roads & footpaths and the potential of a ball getting out of the boundary

Splatmaster .50” is more suitable for the younger player but I don’t think sites tend to take players at 7

Even Delta Force who have had the youngest minimum ages only start at 8 for .50”

(Every individual is different of course)

I would go more for a shooting gallery or laser tag as a starter
A shooting gallery has the bonus that you can both shoot the same targets and don’t have the contradiction that only you can be shot

I've operated a demo booth at a consumer fair with several pre-school and under-10 children shooting.

It's difficult to find masks that fit them properly and the guns tend to be too heavy for them. Usually I had to support the tank for them to be able to aim.

Do a cold test first to see if he can handle the equipment -- and I'd still recommend starting with splatmasters or 50cal. There's a very real risk he'll drop the gun so don't skimp on safety.

Ah! that's a great idea, we have access to land where we can safely play, I'm sure we can setup a gallery of sorts.

Notice no one had answered this portion of your post. As a fellow spectacles wearer I recently tried a load on and found the Empire E-Flex were the best for me! The VForce profilers were a very close second!

All depends on your glasses though and the shape of the mask, sadly you'll just need to try some on!
