I've not used the EMek but a friend of mine had the eNMEy and it leaked air on only his second time using it. He changed it to the Maxxed and not had any issues with it so far. I've personally got the 2011 rail which is the more basic version of the maxxed and not had any issues either. It's pretty reliable and basic so a good starting out marker for your first time. If it's your first item to get though, I would recommend buying a decent set of goggles / mask firstly however as rental ones really are bad!

Yeah I think I've definitely narrowed it down to the Proto Rize Maxxed, reviews seem pretty unanimous in that it's a decent starting point. And for the mask, I found a good condition Dye i4 on gumtree for £40 :sneaky:

I went paintballing for the first time the other week, enjoyed it so much I've decided to take it up. I'm stuck deciding which marker to get though - I've narrowed it down to the Proto Rize Maxxed, GOG eNMEy or the Planet Eclipse EMek
Rize or Emek are both a good shout. Have heard stellar things about the Emek, runs on the Gamma Core so ultra reliable, but it's mechanical so semi auto only, whereas Rize is electro with ramping, etc. Depends on what you want out of a marker, Emek would be a lot easier to maintain (and learn), Rize may have more legs as you may find semi auto starts to get boring, I however have run with an autococker (also mechanical semi auto) for a year or two and didn't slow me down at all, I actually really miss it!

I4 are excellent and good price at £40. Mask depends on the shape of your face, I4s were too narrow for me so now run on eflex, which covers my jaw completely.

Basically start with what you can afford, you will quickly find out what sort of play and gear suits you.

Well... fun and uncomfortable at the same time :D After I decided to buy property in London I went with my new friends to the country house to enjoy this new thing called paintball. It was fun because of my really active and cheerful friends ho made this experience unforgettable. uncomfortable because I wear glasses (y) and course they didn't let me finish all my paint because I was shot very fast. But since then I bought contact lenses and went to enjoy this "game" many times in different places.

Went on a coupke rental days then brought my own gear and went to campaign on a walk on. So much better then public days, good laugh and not as expensive for paint. Soon relaised i needed an electronic gun to keep up so brought a tippman x7 phenom. Get a good pair of googles aswell
