PM me and I'll send you my address, as long as you have no loctite in it I am almost certain I can take it off with no damage - you are positive you didn't cross thread it whilst screwing it together?

finally got it done!
a DT teacher did it at school for me with a vice and a wrench!
relatively no damage at all
