How do you know how many posts you have done ...?

When you click on you little picture, I think the bit that says messages is how many posts you have done.

Well that's how I worked out how many I had done and it was the right number.

Could be wrong so feel free to jump in and correct me anyone

Message count is how many posts a user has submitted.
That number is correct, as long as an Admin/Moderator has not modified the number.
Normally newlyjoined members posting garbage/spam to quickly get there post count up, so as to have access to classifieds.
Either posts get deleted which will bring down post count, or a Mod could reset/zero a users post count without touching any of there posts.

Oh I though messages would be how many pms you have received and sent

In the language of the software used by the forum, messages are posts and conversations are pms

Note that you also don't have access to conversations / pms until you also have the 20 count
