How often are big events for paintballing?

So I had my first walk on session today, and loved it. I'm wanting to set myself up and go regularly. Most of the guys around me were talking about upcoming events such as Tippman in less than 2 weeks followed the weekend after by Paintfest.

My question, is there a big event, such as those above, every month? Or is it just because it's this time of year they all happen together? I'd like to go to at least one, but I'm not ready yet as I dont have any of my own gear currently, but maybe in a month or two!

Certainly on the scenario front there is something every month of 2013 with the exception of January
Not all of them big games, but certainly events and different to the average walkon

Not having your own gear is not a problem, you can book a rental set (and if the organisers aren't listing rentals then a quick question to them will usually get you a set) this can give you an advantage over many starters in that you get the gear supplied to play, can see a diverse range of players gear, and in the majority of cases traders come to the events and you could try on and buy there and then-saving on buying the wrong thing by mail order, no postage and possibly an event special offer
