TSUNAMI from the United Kingdom emerged as paintball Champions of the Nation Cup 2004 at the Sunway Extreme Park yesterday

Team Tsunami from the UK confirmed their status as the favourite team when they clinched the champions title in the Nation Cup 2004 Paintball event at the Sunway Extreme Park yesterday. The team met and beat the XPP team from Philippines in the action-packed finals and bagged the RM5,000 cash prize with the final result, 2-1.

Two local teams, Demonz and Manawee, also stole the spotlight when they finished 3rd and 4th respectively out of 19 teams comprised of local teams as well as international teams. Tsunami, who were up against XPP in the finals, fell behind in the 1st game when they failed to curb the onslaught of the Philippines team.

However, they came back in the 2nd match and won to carry the game into the last leg to determine, the champions. We managed to stay focus in the match (yesterday) although we initally lost it during the 1st stage, but it's good as we still emerged as the champions," commented the only female participant in the team - Guppy Collins.

Besides Collin, the team consists of Brian Graham Best, Errol Walter Jarc, Leon Christoper Newman and Michael Thomas Patterson, while XPP consists of Victor Dino, Gula Salvado, Glen Sowade, Kit Lim Cojo and Edger Natias.
According to her, the team had made early preparations by studying the field and planning the strategies, which would be deployed to fend off other skilled teams before the start of the event.

Meanwhile, Demonz, which were recently formed 6 months ago, are ecstatic with their achievement although lacking in comparison to other pro teams, especially Europe. The 3rd placing results were unexpected, as they had to borrow better markers from the World Paintball Champions from the United States, team Dynasty. (this maybe a little inaccurate as the sentence structure confuses me)

"We thank all who have lent a hand in this event and we hope this milestone will grant us the spirit to prduce better results in the Asian Cup championships next year," commented a team member, Allan Phang.

Note: Actually, during the interview with the reporter from Berita Harian (Malaysia's local daily print media newspaper), I thanked the organisers (XtionPaintball & Paintball TAG), all the teams that borrowed us their markers; Team Phoenix, Team Tsunami, Team XPP & Team Dynasty USA ,Demonz sponsor's Skirmish Paintball Asia, JT USA, Adrenaline Paintball (NPNG Sports Centre) & Admiral England but I guess they summarised it.
