Thought I would write an article about how the markers, equipment and clothing we use have evolved in the 26 years I have been in the game.

I'll start with a photo of a team I played in the first game of the first major event I played - the Mayhem Masters 1990.

The Turks - who are still playing now, miraculously!

I began playing in 1990, just before the Predators began to dominate UK tournament paintball. The Preds used Razorbacks on 12g, and wore Rhodesian camo. Later on, they picked up sponsorship from Dave Galsworthy and shot Sterlings on C/A.

A lot has been written about the dominance of the Preds by better writers, so I won't repeat that, save to say that a little known fact about Marcus Davies was that he was very polite to refs. He made a point of coming and talking to us before the finals of the Mayhem Masters 1995 and explained that if you were nice to the refs, they might give you the benefit of the doubt on a 50/50 call. But if you acted like a p**ck, they wouldn't.

This is a recent photo of Marcus playing with the UK Preds of today at the Woodland Masters:-

Sorry, being distracted by Uni homework. I'll get back on track with this shortly.
