Custom shells will be out sometime in new year.

Well there shouldn't be any problems but you will cause friction between the two surfaces, which might make it tough to slide out the drawer. And you would have to remember that you have the button holes to cut out.
I would suggest that you so not cover all sides or any vent holes. This will ensure good air flow.
Or do you mean something else?
i think rob means, were the back plate of the electonics are. Where the on/off button is...
