Also - don't be off-put if you find sliding difficult when practicing. I find it tricky, until someone is at the other end shooting at me, when I stop thinking about it and just slide.Try going on a training day and doing lots of breakout drills, which will improve your sliding.
Also, an interesting tip I picked up on the Tigers Pro Schools, you can use sliding to brake a fast run to a close bunker as much as to slide into the snake/corners. If you drop flatter to the ground, you'll be able to really sprint in, and hit the bunker at full speed whilst staying behind it. If you try and stay on your feet, you have to slow up as you reach it.
