It's all in the attitude of the teams and the players.

For example:

A team applies for sponsorship.

They get thier sponsorship.

10 x DM5
10 x Goggles
10 X Pants
10 X Jerseys
10 x Gloves
10 x Pack

..all free of charge.

Brilliant!!!

...now lets go and play some small tourny somewhere and show off our new gear

What should be happening is this...

Right lads. We have saved ourselves £11,000. Lets put some of that money where it counts and buy some paint to train with, travel to train with some top teams etc etc etc.

Untill attitudes change nothing is going to change.

Just one example of how we let ourselves down.

Hermitt, now that's the second time I have actually laughed out loud whilst reading this thread, the other was when hatts suggested he isn't and doesn't need to 'big up' the PA.....the irony dripped.......:)

Oh and the Millennium guys are working hard on a new formula for 2006 that encompasses many things so we'll see what comes out of that pot boiler but I honestly think they have had to refocus themselves on what's important in the light of the NPPL setting up two likely camps across Europe for next year.
It's funny how one's survival often provokes a more focussed approach to dealing with your customers and what they want :)

This isnt about sponsorship and it isnt about finance. This about realising that if we want to go anywhere this is not ust something we do to blow off steam. We do it becasue it is a lifestyle and is part of us. Look at the other proffessional sports out there and look at the time and commitment the participants put in. Look at swimming, athletics and the like and examine the effort and financial commitment that those athletes put in. That is what will be expected for s, and the rewards will be a long time in the coming.
Spot on.

However, I do think the problem you outline is not what it was, given the advent of the internet; anyone with even a vague interest could type 'tournament Paintball' into a search engine and they'd soon know it exists.
I wouldnt have searched for "tournament paintball" online, because I had no idea there were paintball tournaments :p

Too Expensive

Like it says, I personally think that paintball in this country is far too expensive, for the avarage joe bloggs anyway, I mean how much is a box paint? £35-40 quid, times this by 10 for a local tourny plus entry say £245 for 7-man and what do you have, £595:eek: thats a lot of wonga, and if your gonna play a series over say 9 months, thats, oh my god £5355:rolleyes:

Anyway my point is that most teams carnt afford to compeate at european level never mind in our home coutry! And dont get me started about the price of markers, loaders, air systems..........

I think sponsorship is very important too this sport, I guess we(the kellys) are very lucky to get what we get as an amatuer team, but we have worked hard to get where we are today,Without the help from DYE and Fuego paintballs we would have be doomed!

Robbo, I personally think that you have to dominate your own country before you try and concour europe, never mind the states, they are on a different level all together:cool: so dont critasize the u.k tournament seen, It's all we have and we gotta make the most of it!

One more thing before i right my will out..............:D

With regards to there not being enough good players in this country, There are loads of dimonds in the dirt, you just gotta find them!

Red leader out.........................

The other thing that is strangely missing from our so called sport is any kind of governing body. At the present time there are too many parties out to make money and each have very individual objectives and agendas.

It seems strange to me that even some vague hobbies like lawn bowls and trampolining have their own international bodies and national councils. We havent got anything of the sort and are miles away from anything close. This stands in the way of the most essential element of the growth of paintball. Officially sanctioned, legitimate events. That way we would all be under the same umbrella, would know who is who on a global standing and also have a standard by which events would have to be run.

The notion that this would eliminate people like the MS is rediculous since it would not be the job of the governing body to run these events. Instead at the start of each year the individual events in a european/ national series would be put out to tender. The best offers would then be selected to form the larger series and become a respected and reputableanswer to the majority of problems that affect the grouth of our sport in the long run.

The fact is though that this will never happen. Its just a shame a bunch oftiddly winks practitioners and stoner skateboarders can achieve this and we cant.

90&% of sponsored teams shouldn't be sponsored.

There is too much sponsorship in Paintball.

If you can't afford to play, do something else.

All harsh, all true.
