What is there to be learned from playing Call of Duty and other 1st person shooters?

Ha ha. I'm one of them chaps. I come from a heavy gaming background since Goldeneye, it was always "I know I could do this in real life if only I could move like real life..." and then I came across paintballing :D

Ok, for the most part, the games are not much use...

...but... you should try Search & Destroy (and hardcore version) modes on COD. It's pretty much all I play on COD now. One life. Two bomb sites. One team attacks. One defends. The format is exactly like the conventional Counterstrike game setup. I have developed a better 'tactical' vision for how to work a paintball field. Stuff like holding down bottlenecks, picking angles, best way to move between cover, when to wait, when to engage etc. Play the maps like Wasteland or Rundown (talking MW2 here) or (MW1) Downpour or Bog (Brilliantly, Mayhem in Essex have re-created this map from MW1 as a playable field. Not played it yet, but pics looks good.)
