As to rubbing alcohol, both me & my pop are of the opinion that all alcohol should be applied internally and so the only C2H5OH in my house is either whisky or mead... And I can say for sure he wouldn't be to happy about me cleaning the barrels with Chivas Regal... So I used a soap bath but didn't rinse the parts in clear water afterwards.
