I think you'd regret buying a flatline. IMO they suck. Break a ball in one and you're virtually finished for the game. They might give slightly longer range, but they're inaccurate and far too expensive for what you get.

I can't complain about the 98 custom, it's reliable and more upgradeable than many other beginning-level markers.

ya it all depends do u just wanna do rec ball or tourney play it depends if he wants to do rec ball then a tippmann and a spyder would be good but if u wanna get into tourney play the save up for a cocker (wgp to be exact) there great tourney gun to start off with every body says there hard to maintain and clean and take apart and **** but just read the manual and it will be a piece of cake dude trust me for tourneys a cocker rules but like i said it all depends what YOU wanna do
