Does it have a QEV?
Recommended settings for Ion without QEV
First set your dwell to 48 blinks from the bottom.

1. Push the programming button multiple times until it is on solid red
2. Push the power button repeatedly until the yellow led does not blink anymore. You have now bottomed out the dwell.
3. Push the programming button multiple times until it is on solid yellow
4. Push the power button 48 times

Then set your ROF Delay to 0 blinks from the bottom.

1. Push the programming button multiple times until it is on single blink red
2. Push the power button repeatedly until the yellow led does not blink anymore. You have now bottomed out the ROF Delay.
3. Push the trigger to exit programming mode.
4. Turn the ion off to record the settings to memory. Just pulling the battery will not save the settings to memory.

Recommended settings for Ion with any QEV
First set your dwell to 14 blinks from the bottom.

1. Push the programming button multiple times until it is on solid red
2. Push the power button repeatedly until the yellow led does not blink anymore. You have now bottomed out the dwell.
3. Push the programming button multiple times until it is on solid yellow
4. Push the power button 14 times. ***If you have the Smart Parts 360 QEV, push the power button 20 times instead***

These are just a guide line, you'll need to fine tune the above for your setup

both, kind of... range is 25-70ms in 0.5ms steps

regardless the way to optimise dwell is the same no matter what your set up.

set your desired input pressure - here is where you need to be concerned about your upgrades. lighter bolts, qevs and larger volume rear cans allow you to drop your operating pressure, while the epiphany upgrade increases it. your OP can vary from 110psi to 260psi depending on internals.

then drop your ROFD to 0.
open grips, press programming button until the LED is solid red.
then pull and hold the trigger for 3 seconds; the speaker will chirp 5 times to indicate
that you can make adjustments.
hold the trigger in, press the programming button to adjust down until it bottoms out (chirps and flashes) - it will give low pitched chirp for each adjustment down.
Then release the trigger.

next set your dwell - you will need air to do this properly.....
use program button to get to solid yellow LED.
use the above method to bottom out the dwell.
bring the dwell up in 5 chirp stages - trying to fire the marker after each stage. once you get a full blown cycle, add 5 more chirps, or at this time of year 10.

if you find you are lacking consistancy over the chrono, bring the dwell up some more until you get a nice steady FPS - you should be able to get shots to within +/-5fps.

you can find all the information on dwell tuning in the ion manual, and the blackheart settings are summarised in a table in the manual for it.

if you are missing manuals you can get downloads via smart parts website or from us here:

should do you fine, but every marker has its own little quirks as far as dwell goes - which is why you need to follow the optimising process.

do you just have the QEV fitted? or is there an aftermarket bolt in there too?

need to know this to give you an initial input pressure setting begore you start the optimising.

start with your pressure around 140psi.

follow the dwell optimising procedure - make sure you check over a chrono that your velocity is where you want it - if not adjust your reg pressure so it is.

once you have the dwell, velocity and pressure set you may like to try doing the dwell optimising again at your new pressure.

depends on how it performs after you get it cycling.

you may find that after you get it cycling the velocity is off - and after you adjust the pressure to change the velocity it stops cycling.....usually if the velocity has been too high and you drop the pressure. if that happens, leave the pressure where you dropped it to and redo your dwell - bringing it up usually does the trick.

or you may find that it cycles fine, but the velocity is all over the shop - again solvable by bringing the dwell up until it settles to something more consistant.
