a program called Pro-motion is a great package for making your own .gif files and to animate them aswell.

It will also reduce or enlarge the size of all frames of a animated gif.

Personally I prefer Adobe Photoshop for making the .gif files.

not that I'd ever incourage computer piracy (cus I work for a games development company) but im pretty sure you can find both on the net.

Pro-Motion might be slightly harder but do a search for Adobe Photoshop 6.0 or 6.5
