I would hope this isn't being seen as just another 'petty internet squabble' - I would hope it's a lot more serious than that because let's face it, barnett's behaviour is not only bizarre, some it is downright malicious and against the law.
The bit that gets me in these type events is people 'sitting on the fence', I just don't get it.
We are not gonna be looking at video evidence of barnett, we don't get that in this case.
However, if testimonial evidence is ok for a court of law in a criminal trial, then for the most part, it should be ok anywhere else.
I am not suggesting that every post should be treated as an inviolate truth, that's just silly, but when the sheer weight of testimonial evidence reaches levels such as in this thread; you'd have to be a complete idiot to think barnett is anything but as guilty as hell - the alternative to that is to believe every one of the people who posted their experiences here is lying - that's just plain ludicrous.

Common-sense has to rule the day, it has to otherwise there'd be no civil hearings processed in our courts because they work on the basis of the likelihood of a certain wrongdoing after all the evidence, testimonial or otherwise, is bought before the court.
Criminal cases require a different approach for varying reasons, and the most important of those reasons is because the accused can be sent to jail.
As a paintball community, we have no such powers but surely we can act responsibly and use our heads when it comes to the differing likelihoods such as, 'did barnett say and do these things', or 'didn't he'.

The amount of evidence in this thread is substantial and in some cases, it's chilling, and I'm pretty sure the people who have posted concerning barnet's vindictiveness and pernicious deeds would all be willing to put their accounts in a more formalised fashion should they be required.

For people to 'sit on the fence' is an insult to all the people barnett has abused in the past.
There won't be any video evidence, but there are people willing to testify concerning what he's done to them personally and we also have evidence of hundreds of people who read barnett's disgusting accusations against Pete Russell that were put on line by barnett, and yet these people who sit on the fence seemingly feel no responsibility to other individuals in our sport who could be treated in similar ways by barnett if everyone sat on the fence??
We all have a responsibility to try and safeguard our sport and its participants.

I've already used the Hitler as a metaphor in this thread but once again, Hitler rose to power on the back of millions of people sitting on the fence ... it's a dramatic and inappropriate comparison I know but there are similarities in character here that cannot be denied in terms of a clinical behaviour profile.

Can anyone who's read these posts not feel uneasy about barnett's pernicious attitudes and behaviours being allowed to roam unbridled in our sport.
If you decide to sit on the fence then you guys are welcome to him but don't come back after he's shafted you or something worse and then start moaning about him calling for some action.
We either make a stand and say, 'no fuhkin more' or you allow him to fester like an infection in our sport, and like all his sort, if you think he's bad now, if he somehow squirms out of this one, he's gonna be a whole lot worse second time around.
Our sport's lead must be taken from our industry, in a sense, they are our guardians here because we have no formal set-up with which to deal with people like barnett and so our industry has to man up and act ... if you have an association with barnett, cut it ... it's as simple as that!!!
If you refuse to do so then you are condoning everything he has done !!!
I might not speak for the industry but from reading this thread, I think it safe to say, I might be voicing the opinion of our ballers when demanding our industry disinfect themselves from barnett.
Mark my words people, mark my words !!!!!

Can I just jump in on the UKPSF point & promotions? (My point of view on them)

The UKPSF represents, or aims to represent all paintball in the UK - industry & players, there of course is no industry with no players

Up to a short while ago there were the industry memberships which gave them support & advice from the UKPSF and funded the UKPSF doing its thing, and player memberships which funded only the liability insurance
More recently there have been other player memberships such as team ones with custom cards and discounted £5 membership without the insurance. This means the £5 goes to UKPSF

Personally I am covered elsewhere but was a standard member, currently I'm on a £5 membership with a free extension when it next runs out

Promotions that I have seen are full membership, not only shoreline but other events. The player saves and gets a benefit, but it is standard promotional practices and is paid for

Free UKPSF membership is being offered by them if you attend the events that they are at and promoting. This gives you a free version of the £5 light membership
So is not the same as previous free / discounted promotions which were full membership

I think this is diving headlong into an off topic indulgence - if you guys wish to continue discussing what the UKPSF can and can't do, then please can you start another thread in the appropriate forum, thanks guys.

Note: I'm no expert in anything

From what I understand SL does sponsor quite a large number of teams, I'm not sure on the level of support but as we all know paintball is an expensive pastime so any little bit helps. Also there isn't exactly a glut of companies offering sponsorship these days.

What's the take on those teams that probably rely on the sponsorship to be able to play and train? One answer is that due to the actions of TB they should drop the support regardless but that is somewhat idealist and I suspect many would rather play under the banner of a dingleberry than not play at all.

Unfortunately H, money, or in this case, paintball discounts, talk ...
People are less inclined to adopt a moral position if a few quid is being saved by ignoring threads like this one.

I would have thought that any individual who has kids, and who's in a team sponsored by barnett must surely be considering their position now.
I cannot conceive of any parent who plays on a team that has any link with barnett won't be reflecting on barnett's method of attack on Pete Russell - I thought the revelation that explained how barnett cheated his own sister out of thousands of pounds was about the lowest thing I had heard about him but the Pete Russell allegations plumbed new depths.

It's a sad indictment of today [not just in paintball] that some individuals really do prioritise a few quid in front of the sort of things barnett has indulged himself in but let's hope there is still a back-drop of moral outrage that is felt by most individuals in teams and businesses associated with barnett.

I can't tell anyone what to do, that's a ridiculous notion but I hope I can lay out potential consequences and options that will assist most reasonably-minded individuals when deliberating just what to do about any associations with barnett or his shoreline company.

I ask you to consider one thing here:- If anyone was to come across this thread and wasn't aware of any politics or inter-personal grievances, someone such as a newbie or a person looking to play our game, what do you think they would conclude from such a thread?
The first question that would be forming in their mind after reading this thread would be, 'I wonder what happened to this person called barnett'?

The vast majority of rational individuals would read this dump-truck full of posts and immediately think of the consequences .... for barnett.
And this is because, nobody likes the idea of people getting away with things especially when you read the catalogue of abuse and threatening behaviours we've all borne witness these past few days.
barnett is a cancer in our midst just waiting to metastasise spreading through our sport due to people sitting on fences - players with even a tiny sense of morality about them will vote with their feet - businesses have to consider other ramifications but this shouldn't be a 'get-out' clause for positive action regarding barnett.

One other thing of note, my phone, email box and FB messages have been quite busy of late which I suppose is expected; one of the people who have gotten in touch have recounted some of the words barnett uttered during my last attack on him a few years back.
The person I was in contact with told me of his association with barnett and he told me of a discussion they had during that time and barnett had said, 'if we ever met [barnett and myself] that he would end up fighting me'.

I, of course realise this is not a responsible way of resolving differences but I have to factor in something here, he's got a first class honours degree in bullcr@p and of course, a PhD in Furtive Imagination research; the reality?
I don't believe he could hold a frying pan let alone hold his hands up in real physical engaement.
Do I take it seriously?
Of course not, I don't mean I didn't believe he said it but it's something barnett just couldn't do, it's beyond his scope, either mental or physical but I wont be taking any trips to Ainsley's next event for a showdown in front of everyone though I reckon I could make a few quid selling seats - 25 quid a seat?
Mind you, I'd have to place the takings under lock and key, there could be thieves about if you know what I mean.
In any case, I'm afraid I won't be doing anything like that all the time he represents business concerns other than his own.

For being such a tight knit community, I'm pretty staggered that the community continues to back this toolbox in either supporting his business or doing business with him. I'd hope that with all the information listed out that we as a community will act in the most powerful way possible, with our wallets and word of mouth. It's up to all of us to ensure that other players are no longer screwed over.

Superb write ups from Lee and Robbo.
