Good on you for wanting to get into tourney paintball. I remember thinking something similar that it was difficult to get into it at first. I got myself a basic marker setup and mask, and emailed an entry level tournament to join a scratch team, and that was my entry into it! I just played a day with those guys, made a few friends. I even needed to borrow a hopper and a pack! Paintballers are generally very friendly, those guys certainly were. There are lots of people in the same boat! It is just a case of making contact.
