reading this thread do we wonder why ppl are going back to the woods and playing big games, just ask robbo :) they make them into a fun filled event and give the customer what they want, know robbo asked if this is what tournie players wanted a fun filled event against some of the best teams in the world ,but as per usual certain individuals come along and make this into some political sh*t and this is why fook all will ever change.so if you want that sort of fun atmosphere now and again just do a big game like the nvs or staargate:) one day we might get our sh*t together and progress with out the bollocks and get this great game on the stage the customers want. ps robbo and other luminatie if you have the god like powers to make this happen then on behalf of all uk ballers pleeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz speak into the right peoples ears and set the ball rolling;):D:D:D:D:D

OK back to reality. Problem in the UK is, someone could start the ball rolling, there could be an amazing event, and then none of you punks actually play it. Thats what happens. Thats what happened in the past, and that's what would happen in the future.
In 1997 WDP held the Hyperball event and lost a ton of money because the teams did not support it. I believe it was at that stage they they decided not to bother holding events in the UK anymore. Blaming politics can wait. You guys want to blame someone, blame yourselves for now. Campaign was poorly supported, the peeps that have tried in the past to stimulate the UK scene have been poorly supported. Talking the talk on here is ridiculous, and knowing what I know about the history of UK ball, I find it a little hard to listen to.

Being as most people on here are proud supporters of Planet (nothing wrong with that by the way), why not ask them to stage an event in the UK? Typically you want to ask the people that you spend money with to help you out, and as Planet have the bulk of the market share in the UK, and you guys have already given them your hard-earned, why not? If you're waiting for PP to come along and blow thier wads creating a true spectacle, think about why they would do it. For the betterment of the sport? Sure, great idealogy, but who pays for it? Someone else? PP themselves? What happens when they announce that its 2500 euro's to enter and you all start squealing like stuck pigs?
Should the US market, (which is where WDP sell the bulk of thier guns) subsidise a quality UK event? How does that make sense.
No, first, before you think "where is the event we all want going to come from", think first "where is the money going to come from, because based on your track record, it ain't you guys.

Robbo would definitely need his godlike powers to make this happen. For starters he would need to turn water into wine, which PP could then use to get people drunk in the VIP, because I KNOW you'll all want free booze while you're there, right?

Sorry Pete, your hearts in the right place, your intensions are honorable and your idea's are great, but you're standing in front of an army of ballers that would happily let you charge 'over the top', only to find yourself looking around wondering where the rest of your troops are as you get filled with lead. They will be back in the trench moaning that they didn't expect to actually put themselves in any danger, or contribute anything other than words and meanless posturing to your valiant war-effort. We've spoken about this in the past, and I already know that you get where I'm coming from, and that it frustrates you as much as me. Its not like either of us can guarantee any kind of successful attendance, and we would drive ourselves mad trying to.

I have no problem with anyone objecting to this, and some of you will rightly feel you are justified in doing so, unfortunately there aren't enough of you.

Like you know how to find a gym.... Did Pete have to hold your hand?;)
I'm glad someone else though Piper might be stretching the truth a little... and surely pushing the bar would have less effect than leaning on it:eek:

Biscuit, would that things were so simple; As much as I sometimes hate the politics of our sport, I do sometimes have to get involved.
The fact the Millennium Board wouldn't really listen to me unless they were forced to isn't so much an expedient choice on their part but it is a political decision.

They know fulll well I have been in the game a long time, they also know full I won't take any sh!t from any of them.
That said, they are well aware I'm no fool and any suggestions I make will generally be for the welfare and benefit of the majority of players and vendors who attend their events.
They must know this because I don't stand to gain one frikkin penny whichever way they decide to go and so my only agenda is to try and do the right thing.

Problem is, they don't like me coming up with things and then they have to go away and do them, I suppose they think it makes them feel lacking in some way, they are all their own bosses and don't take too kindly to being told anything they don't wanna hear.
Their take on things would be,'who the frikkin hell does he think he is anyway, bollocks to him, we ain't doing it'.
They also think they know best how to run thier business which I have to say, you can't really blame them for but in a lot of cases, they really don't know.
I have no real power over them other than what I can write on here or in PGi, I know they hate it when I do kick off because they cannot and will not ever control me and so instead of looking toward me to change things, the real power lies with you guys out there .. it really does.

I can give you my advice but ultimately these battles are won by you lot, both vendor and player.

The only real leverage will come about when there is perhaps some competition for the MIllennium because all the time they have this monopoly, they got ya by the (paint)balls ....

If I wanted, I could perhaps put together a European initiative to maybe explore the possibility of an alternate circuit and maybe I could get it off the ground, I certainly know the right people to involve but to be honest, why the fu!k should I?
I got my job with PGi, and I will be with this magazine till whatever end we share, my loyalty isn't toward sorting out Brit paintball, it may well be a passion of mine but my true loyalties lie elsewhere in this sport.

I got no problem in helping people out and advising, but why on earth would I wanna spend huge amounts of my time sorting this cr@p out when the people who already run these interests have got a working blueprint in front of them but ain't got the brains or the balls to put it into practice?

In defence of the MIllennium Board I will say this much, since Barry Fuggle has joined them, he has taken that edge out of them, they still have the same cast of fruitcases involved but maybe Barry's influence is showing a little.
For all the problems at this year's Campaign Cup, they did a much better job than last year's Crystal Palace event.
I think they do want to do the right thing but it's not a quick process with those guys.
If enough of the industry and, if enough of the teams got organized and created a pressure group of some sort then it would change things, of that I am sure, the MS would have to change.
But is that gonna happen?
Well how about some of you teams and you industry bods do it all, I stand to gain nothing, not one thing, but you guys do; and if nothing changes, well, you only have yourselves to blame.
Go do it guys!

Edit Added: Damn you Missy, you go and post that while I am writing mine out, hmmm, I pretty much agree with everything you say though, even though it is quite depressing :(

MIssy, I am gonna nominate that last post of yours for 'post of the month' and I would ask each and every baller to read and re read what Missy says because no matter how much we might cringe with embarrassment, or even maybe get riled by his audacity to accuse us all, nevertheless, the man is 100%, damn right, straight up, on the money.
Basically, that post just about summed us all up.

A truly depressing but wholly profound insight into the unpalatable truth of UK paintball when it comes to 'talking the talk' and 'walking the walk'.

I am unable to follow that final act of Missy ................ where's the lights?

I don't know what to say, I've never been nominated for anything before, but here goes...
I want to thank my Mom, Tyrone, Lafonduh, T-Bone and Laqueesha for being the best family a Harlem fat chick could ever have. I also want to thank Cadbury's, Nestle and McDonalds for giving me the strength to fight for what I believe.
Lastly I want to take the opportunity to hate on that skinny cracker bxtch Gwen Stefani and Jazzy J for shafting me on my record deal. You guys are the scum of the earth.
Thanks, and please keep the hate mail to a minimum.
