The Federation had a very productive committee meeting on Thursday the 4th March. The committee agreed that many positive steps have been taken in our first year together and remain convinced that a centralised industry led approach is our best chance of ensuring stability and growth in UK Tournament Paintball.

It was agreed that the committee should prepare an extensive statement detailing the events of the past 12 months as seen by the Federation, and clearly stating its current position and intended future actions. This will be ready in the next few days.

Rich Harris gave a well received presentation to the committee on the aims and plans for the CPPS series in 2010 and beyond.

It was agreed that the Fed will once again present the Federation Cup in September 2010, and that all efforts will be made to make the event bigger and better than the inaugural event in October 2009. It was agreed that all member companies will support the 2010 Fed cup with a prize pool unprecedented in UK domestic paintball.

The Fed has spent the past 12 months evaluating the UK tournament setup and making basic steps towards a co-ordinated approach. The members are conscious that this has not always been well received and can all too easily be perceived as the Fed dictating or preaching to tournament organisers or teams – however the facts are the facts and UK tournament ball is smaller now than it was 5 or even 10 years ago. Quite simply, the Fed believes that the model of a complete commercial free-for-all in the provision of competitive events has NOT bred stability into the game, and has NOT resulted in growth either in actual numbers or in the public perception of tournament paintball.

There is much to be done to change the way the competitive side of the game is structured, we recognise that this cannot be done overnight but are committed to ensuring that the UK tournament player will eventually be able to compete within the kind of professional, structured system enjoyed by virtually all other sports.

This of course cannot be done without the patience and support of the playing community and becomes very difficult without the understanding and co-operation of the tournament promoters. We are pleased to announce that NSPL and CPPS remain in full support of the Fed. We regret the recent breakdown in relations with the UK Masters but remain committed to an inclusive approach and to finding common ground with the organisers.

It was agreed that the Fed should invite representation from the player base to attend the Fed committee meetings, and members agreed to establish a process for the players to elect the representative(s). It is expected this will increase transparency and help facilitate a position of trust and co-operation between the Fed and the player base.

Watch out for a fuller statement very soon and details of our plans for the Feds role in the 2010 season.

Hope this is not taken the wrong way, but.
We repeatedly see posts about meetings, and posts referring to details that are forthcoming, but its about time these details actually arrived.
We were informed that we would know the date for this years, Federation Cup in January, as of yet this date has not been publicised.
Whilst it may be fine for the committee of the federation, to know whats going on, let us members know in a more timely fashion as well.
Keep up the good work that is being done, but do try and keep us informed

Thanks

Perhaps we could have some details of the split with the Masters from the Federations point of view. This obviously affects all Masters players and those wishing to play the Masters, and events surrounding this split appear to have been swept under the carpet without the full open disclosure we should expect from an organisation such as the Federation.

September for the Fed Cup means teams will have to choose Shoot the Rainbow or Fed Cup won't this limit the teams attending??

Can't see many teams being able to afford both.

Will Uk Masters teams be invited like last year or will they be ignored?

Hmmmmm....... interesting point Echo, are you suggesting the disclosure of just why the Federation withdrew sanctioned status of that event series might influence your decision to play in one league or another?

It was a fairly cloak and dagger affair and unless you put all the pieces together you didnt really know what happened. I think that if the FED clarrified this, then yes it could create some influence

sc fi would this be far on all parties

disclosing events that went on between the feds and the masters

now i don,t play the masters for personal reasons ,and that is how every player should decide

the choice of event should be down to the players not because an organisation says so

choose the best value event for you

The events that happened dont need to be said just something that says why they were ejected/left

yes players should make their owns minds up, but should also be fully aware of ALL the facts so the decision is informed

personally i think that industry backed events are a good idea, especially if they produce a great end of season event with something worth winning, makes the season count for something

i will continue to support the federation as it really did give a great first event and its obvious they will continue to do so
