Nice one fella, just goes to show what can be done.
If anyone's wondering how that was done i'd guess it was like this. (feel free to correct me, as you actually did it)
Apply the dragon & cymru stencil's in desired posistion
Mask off the lower half of the hopper
Spay the cream, allow to dry
Peel off the lower mask and spray the green
peel off the flag and spray the red
Always spray light colours first
Hey presto, cool hopper

may i ask diablo, dose it need to be special paint for r/c cars or can i use normal spray paint?

It needs to be polycarbonate radio control car paint.
Don't whatever you do and try to use normal car paint as it will crack and look horrible.
My local shop sells the cans for £5.99 so they are actually cheaper than the car stuff from halfords.

Demonic69, that's better matey, wouldn't have been my colour choice but i do like the translucent finish you got there. Keep up the good work.

hi there. sorry to revive a somewhat old thread, but i just wanna ask. my local model store only sells acrylic or enamel model paint (tamiya or humbrol). will either of those work ok?

oh yea, also (though i highly doubt this would work) would the polycarb paint (with its "bonding properties") work on masks? or would they just bend too much and crack up the paint?

Enamel won't work as that isn't flexible, i don't know about acrylic, never used it.
Crap model shop if they don't do polycarb paint tho, all my local shops sell it.
Do a search for apex models, good reliable mail order specialists.

As far as your mask goes i don't really see a problem providing you completely strip it and remove the lens etc.
To test colours i spray the inside of an empty coke bottle and have found that you can fold the bottle in two without the paint cracking. but if you screw your mask up don't blame me !

Personally i wouldn't risk it, your mask is what stops your face getting a smacking and if the paint affects it in any way then your stuffed.

You are quite correct.

Edit: I get my paint from www.evolutionmodelsport.com They do different brands of paint. I used the Custom colours range. Not sure how well the fast finish range work.

ok, i tested a little bit of paint on a small part of the ear piece with the acrylic and it looks ok. i even used some thinner to clean it off to see if the thinner would do anything to the mask.

one thing tho, would the paintball fills have any effect on the sprayed on paint? i don't have any paintballs on hand so i can't test it myself.

Thinners, if wiped off straight away probably won't effect your mask, but long term will probably age the mask plastic so it goes brittle?????????
Personally i wouldn't touch my mask with thinners
A mild washing up liquid/water solution and then dry it off gently with a hairdryer, before painting. loose the thinners !
I don't know how durable the surface will be and what effects paint fill will have on it.....Hoppers that have been painted with car paint look good to start with but after 6 months they look really ****e, as to how yours will look....you let us know in 6 months

i still say use polycarbonate paint or dye
