Well i just got off the phone with robert (who insidently trained me!) and yes as advised removing the grub screw is the best method, BUT what he did say is that the magnet is loctite'd in so if anyone want to remove it (i imagine), heat it up with a hair drier and push it out.

That said, he did not say what loctite was used so you have no idea who much heating up would be required to remove it completely. Hopefully this might be helpful to someone in the future?

Thats fine...although i am slightly amazed that planet put that in their manual (must check tonight), but the reason that i originally want to remove the magnet completely as this is a powerful magnet, i am not 100% convinced that removing the magnetic return screw will fix the problem. The initial trigger point screw is still in the gun and it is the same metal as the return spring so it also will be attracted to the magnet what ever you do.

So back the original question....how the feck do i get the magnet out?
Is is superglued in the 06' frame....or is it going to be a case of drillin the fecker out?

P.S. I am also going to give planet a call today as well. If i get any good advise i will pass it on. :D

trust me dude, removing the grub screw that is under the frame magnet wil remove the magetic pull on the trigger. Im pretty sure the magnetic field of the magnet isnt all encompassing! There is NO REASON TO REMOVE THE MAGENT FROM THE FRAME - apart from I hasten to add, for annodising purposes. for the love of god dont drill it out. Think about your resale value if nothing else - noone wants impaired functionality in a marker. If i was buying another 06, Id want the option for a magnet even if i didnt use it, particularly for selling on again.

if you listen to the advice and take the 30 seconds required to just remove the grub screw, you will then be convinced that there is no noticeable magnetic resistance on the trigger pull. from your first post it seems you want to get rid of the snappy trigger action provided by magnetic resistance - and make the tirgger easier to pull. all you need to do is remove the grub screw, then adjust the spring tension.

you need to remember that there must be some "play" in the tirgger. you cant have it just "floating around" otherwise you will get insane amounts of bounce when firing the marker with paint due to the inherent recoil imparted by the firing mechanism.

I set my 06 with just spring, and it ripped. Perfect trigger set up for me.
be patient and dont do anything stupid. also set your debounce to 3 and go from there.

convinced yet?!

as before the only thing you need to take that magnet out for is annodising.

Cypha,

Lovetone is right - he has provided you with all of the necessary information to achieve what you are trying to do.

As for the loctite used on the trigger magnets; it is Loctite 638 - yes thats right the strong stuff! It will take considerable heat to remove the magnet, and this should only be done as a last resort if you are re-anodising your marker - something that i would not recommend on ANY marker.

I think that the "Eclipse Certified Tech" statement in your posts/user name might also be a little mis-leading, as yes you have passed the Level 1 Ego Tech Course but anyone who has read (and understood) the manual should also be able to do that. Passing Level 1 demonstrates a certain level of understanding and familiarity with the Ego - it is a long way off from being an Eclipse Technician :D

Just wanted that differentiation to be clear.

Thanks,

Nicky T

Is it me or detect more than a dash of sarcasm here.

As far as i was concerned this was suppose to be reasonable friendly place where likeminded people could ask questions and get help.
If the person choose to get a second opinion or ignore the advise, that is up to the the poster, it is not up the than person to take offence or start small talking to that person...is it not needed and that is why so many forums these days are a load of ****.

Also i would agree about the tech course, yes it does not make any person guru of the ego's but if it did we wouldn't be doing our day jobs....we wouldn't be doing our day job, we would be working for planet.

Finally, thank you for taking time to help out and any advise given.

You're more than welcome :)

I think that little Lovetone was just a little shocked when you didn't take his advice, after all he is pretty knowledgeable on these matters ;)

Anyway back to my day job ;)
