This isn't a particularly new vid but I take great pleasure in watching all the TechPB stuff whilst I'm working up the money to involve myself in the sport. I was kind of surprised to see this video, it seems very self-defeating. Say negativity on the internet is killing the sport whilst posting a video saying the sport is dying on the internet?

I'd really like to know what you guys think though. Is TechPB generally a respected site? Do you think what he's saying has much truth to it? Also, a specific point, do you think ramping ruins the game? I have to admit, as someone who's only played recball and wants to find more out about the sport, when I saw the videos of markers just spewing out balls at 20+ per second? That bit never appealed to me. Not even double triggers particularly appealed to me. It's like aiming is not a part of the game. To some extent I can understand it, as aiming is of interest to the individual, whereas being forced to move under heavy fire is more interesting for you and your team. It looks like a trade off I suppose? Make aiming less significant, make tactical decisions more significant. I'm talking out of my bum though as I have literally zero experience. How do you, in your non-zero experience, feel about the TechPB dude's opinions?

accuracy is a very important factor within tournament paintball, well, if your a crap aim.... your not going to get people out right ?

You just have more balls going down on the target and you will find, the rec ball guns you use ( inferno's ? classic 98's ? ) are no way near as accurate as the scenario/tournament paintball markers that are on the market.

You don't fire one paintball and wait for them to walk out with there hand on there head and if they don't pop them again you shot them loads so you know one of them is going to hit them plus the chances are more than one will and it will hurt them more :D you've got to remember we are firing liquid filled balls not bullets they can fly of anywere!! one case one kill...

nope,

because running at 10.5bps , i am also firing accurately.

If i am firing a marker and the accuracy is all over the place, it would be pointless, doesnt matter if i am shooting 20bps or not. A marker has to be accurate or your simply not putting balls on the target beating zone so your not getting players out.

My own opinion of Mike is that he can be extremely biased. He often makes allowances for some products or companies and is extremely critical of others.

Quick example of the top of my head... I believe he complained about having to buy gauges for the A1 and Fly... While recommending that his viewers do so for Bob Long markers...
Just popped into my head that he also complained about the A1 series not having an externally adjustable LPR. His main reason for wanting one being that he could turn the pressure up during a day of play to help the bolt push through dirt and stuff in the breech... Erm, clean the breech and bolt? And doesn't that take even less time with a rotobreech?

Bah, now I'm rambling.

I just think that he's gotten quite a big ego in the past few years and he isn't quite the great wealth of knowledge that a lot of players believe him to be.
There may be some good tips for newer and older players in his videos, but as with everything, take it with a pinch of salt.

Oh yeah, the topic. =P Saying that paintball is declining is a very broad statement.
Declining in America? The world? Tournament play? Rental days?

Paintball is on the decline. i think thats a fairly well known fact.

Whether it was killed by BPS rulings i think is hard to define.

For example pump play as a percentage of total players is on the rise. is this caused by the increased economical hardship, or does it correlate with the increased fun/ adrenaline of playing at a disadvantage, or atleast more tactically.

Lollingsgrad, keep in mind the video itself is not negative, it is explanatory. He doesn't say everyone is killing it, he says the people who come online and bitch about stuff are killing it. The ones who are here because they have hte money and they dont fit in anywhere else.

Mike @ techpb can go suck a fat one. He is, pretty much, a c0ck. I cant watch his videos, or that cockerpunk guy. They both annoy me to the point that it makes me angry. His view and opinion is the right one, and if you dont agree, he will probably spam your forum with goat porn. Bias to the point of blatancy and more immature than Justin Bieber.

Dont like him, but even worse, I dont like the fact that A LOT of new players discover him and his site before they see anything else.
