Donk Just to give you a bit of background. As far as I know, the UKPSF was not behind the Paintball Show - that was Tim & Shoreline's baby. Regarding getting paintball recognized as a sport, so far there have been 4 attempts at this. 2 by the UKPSF, 1 by the PA and 1 by Delta. Each one has failed. I am drafting the next one, but before that we need to increase the membership base. Hope this helps.
Although the ukpsf wasn't behind it both the ukpsf and shoreline (the creators of the pb show) are mutually supporting each other. The pb show had three main adverts during the break BZ, Greg Hastings and the UKPSF. Paintball is finally coming together with the ukpsf as the focal body. It's being pushed from every angle. P8ntballer CPPS Shoreline UKScenario Talkpaintball Masters The Psintball Show Everyone can see the good in it and everyone can see the end goal so now it's time to get the supporters in and show the Uk there's more than five hundred of us who play on a regular basis rather than just stag dos and birthday parties which is all people from out side paintball see paintball as.
Again I am left wondering why this is posted in a restricted part of the forums. Post this in a public section and you are likely to get more responses.
Not sure if this helps but the big push at the moment is to get recognised as a sport. Some of us see this as a big deal others don't. Uping the membership of the UKPSF is ONE step towards this ONE objective (the UKPSF do do other things as well)!. For me personally, this one aim is enough for me to back it. Being recognised as a sport opens many options (funding being one). For me I would like it to be recognised so my son can grow up to say he played a sport not just some recreational thing he does at the weekend. Schools will help fund trips for sports but not paintball as its not a sport so unless its a reward trip you have to organise it yourself (which I do at my school for the sixth form). Not only that, players for the school football team get recognition in school bulletins etc as do those that do other sports outside the school but you find little mention of paintball even though our youngsters took the European cup (I do hope those involved did get some recognition). All of this raises the profile of paintball which is an objective that many of us are happy to get behind. Part of this is faith on my part. I can't see every little thing Steve does towards this but I know he is working damn hard to achieve it. This one objective is enough for me to join but may not be enough for everyone. I intentionally left the bit about the insurance until last as although it is nice to have it is not the reason I re-joined this year.
donk email or phone steve bull at the UKPSF,he will answer all your questions. that way you get the answers you need from the horses mouth and you won`t get any bs,just ask him he don`t bite.i know i work for him when you do ,do me a favour and come on here and spill the beans
you have to be quite specific in your questions of what you want too know, steve gets hundreds of emails per day so may be quite vague in his answers, that and trying too run his own business. on a side note Steve has saved paintball on 2 seperate occassions from government rules so he does lots that we don`t see like talking to the police too clarify laws, when some dick does a drive by etc etc
Steve isn't a "governing body" in the traditional way. Basically, he's the only guy who can be bothered to do all this and not get paid for it. Mods, can you please move this thread to "Speak Your Brains"? As Buddha says, it's better on a public thread. Thanks.
I didn't put it in there for a reason. I paid for membership to a private part of the forum where I put this thread deliberately. Can you remove my quotes from other people's replies please @NitroBall
Why remove them? You asked a very valid question. Most people that the ukpsf at face value. It's a very relevant thread.
Because I put it in the plat forum not here & twice I stated why but it got moved against my wishes & I'm not happy about it.
The Platinum section has the privilege to talk, joke, just about anything including subjects outside of paintball. I feel the subject of this thread is relevant to everyone who plays paintball regardless if they are competitive players, or players who play for fun and giggles on a regular basis. Donk, yes you did start this thread, i dont see why you are so upset ? but why start a fresh thread when some info on here that has been answered. Yes, this subject has been brought up several times in the past, but i believe the UKPSF needs to be known by the more recent and new players. After all, if the UKPSF and Bully was never involved, paintball could have been a thing of the past here in the UK. Think about it, paintball is illegal in many countries, other countries they are heavily restricted. There are always those politicians who want to completely stamp out guns, as long as we have a governing body and a voice for all of us, hopefully paintball in the UK will still be played in many years to come.
found this on the sports England website http://www.sportengland.org/ , the UKPSF guys have a point, the benefits of being recognized are huge and it looks like there is a lot of work to be done for the goal to be achieved
Because if I wanted it here I would of posted it here. Just because you thought it was better placed here you moved it without considering that I specifically outlined why it was in plat section TWICE. There is no curtosey there. If you think without the ukpsf that ball will be banned in the uk your are naive. You think Steve bull has more clout than companies such as Dye, Planet, Kee, Shoreline, BZ or shops like Just paintball, lips etc? If the government moved toward a ban which would hit the profit margins or these massive companies that generate lots of jobs, business tax & vat without Steve about then they would task their solicitors to do the same thing, they don't now as someone else is doing it for free. The point was how is the ukpsf trying to get us recognised as a sport but now you moved it here it will get so full of horse s41t opinions with no fact behind them (just online quotes & web pages) it is totally ruined. Thanks a lot pal.
Steve has been running the UKPSF single-handed for 20+ years. I first met him in 1991, when he ran Undercover Camoflage. Over the years, Steve has done a lot of work that has gone unpublicized - if he was to list all the challenges he has dealt with and help to sites and individuals that he has given over the years, it would be a very long list. He just gets on with things behind the scenes, and does not ask for any thanks or recognition. As for companies like Dye, Planet, Kee - if you looked at the structure of these companies - that is, their in-house staff - I think you may be surprised. Having worked at Planet, I can tell you that they do not have a dedicated member of staff to deal with the issues that the UKPSF deal with, nor do they have an in-house legal team. If they want legal advice or representation, they would have to pay a law firm to get it - and law firms would charge hundreds of pounds an hour for this type of work. Look at Germany - without their paintball federation, they would not be playing paintball. But because they do, they have a highly organized and thriving league system. Yet do the people behind their federation get paid a wage for doing it? No. They do it because they love paintball.
Having this in the platinum forums would have restricted many who could answer and chat about the subject in question. Not everyone in the industry or Bully or even those who work with him have platinum status. Is there something on your mind or something you do not want a specific person to see ? If the one thing you are so worried about horse s41t opinions as you put it, then why delete all your posts ? OK, lets keep this thread civil, no more crap to be posted ! We do not want to ruin this thread ! Hope this helps Donk.
Dont see the problem about paying hell most people spend more on food and drink playing one days paintball The £100 pittence as you put it could be the difference for some people it only takes a serious break to keep you off work for 6 months but do recomend that people take out personal insurance talking off that forgot to claim on mine before xmas bahh
