You will also find that most marshals do it for the money not because they enjoy it
not all, myself with what i get paid it normally just about pays for my expenses like fuel (normally £40-£50) as im normally only person in my car, food and extra ciggies for the day, and im left with not a lot and when i stay in a hotel it then costs me to ref.

I do actually do it for the enjoyment, however much i moan and seem a prick when im on field i do enjoy it.
All be it were not the best in the world but the majority of us do a good job reffing as some of you will know its not that easy.

To see the top british teams playing domestic ball again would be good for everyone, the sport, the spectators (ok not many but hey :D) the lower divs, i can remember watching the pro tour, enjoying it and learning from watching.

As regards playing cpl at a masters event i would love it, even if i wasnt reffing that field. Yes it would take more refs, but why would you need to take the best refs.

from what i understand Wendy normally runs 1 field per roughly ten so setting one of these fields aside for cpl wouldnt harm the other teams.

As to roster locking this is a difficult one, whats the harm in running it the same way as it is, if your in div 1 you play spl. come bottom you go back to div 2 and 1 team from div 2 moves up. It would give the lower teams something to aspire to. When i played i owuld of worked my socks off to play cpl format if it was there.

My 2p's worth anyway :D

I kinda got bored and didn't read the last few posts...

The only real problem I can see people bringing up is with a locked league and with only 'Div1' teams going on to play this format... (other problems are just people bickering)

Simple solution...

Every other Masters event just run an a one off OPEN CPL/SPL rules div/field... Problem solved.
but the problem aint solved because then teams points dont go towards the championship ?

Im seeing a pattern in this thread.

The teams at the top of the masters want it and so do the the players in teams which no longer play in the uk that much as its no benefit to them in their euro aspirations.

The lower div teams in the masters dont want it and seem to think its a bad idea. No offense guys but were not suggesting for you to do it and for some you may not reach the level to play it but you seem to want to shoot it down.

I dont see anyone that's said it's a bad idea to have a CPL/SPL format league. Just people that have said they don't want it IF it means losing something else.

The championship?

Theres no point in having a 'series' as such, cos like everything else here, it means nowt. Locking it off and playing for a year isn't really gonna appeal to any decent teams. You want one off events so teams can opt in and out when they can. This would appeal to bigger teams who have more commitments, smaller teams who are unable to commit and teams who just wanna try it out or play for fun...

u miss my point al for example if we (northerne heroes) played 6 5 mans counting towards the masters title and 2 one off spl style events instead of the other 2 5 man events we would not win the 5 man title.

thats why i think it should be run in place of the 7 man

i wasnt saying that the cpl/spl events should be anything more than open division matches.

the way i see it is 8 teams split into 4's each play each other in there group, top team from each group plays for the win the two 2nd place's play for 3rd and 4th?
